Wine Tasting – Domaine Serene

We are thrilled to invite you to our next evening of wine tasting! On Tuesday, August 22 at 6 p.m., Eric Ebright with Hayden Beverage will lead us through a fantastic lineup of wines from the renowned Domaine Serene. 
 
Grace and Ken Evenstad, fueled by their love for Burgundian wines, settled in Oregon’s Dundee Hills over thirty years ago. Before Oregon Pinot Noir made national waves, the couple saw its potential and founded Domaine Serene, naming it in honor of their daughter and dedicating their first vineyard to their son, Mark Bradford. Today, Domaine Serene stands as a testament to the richness of Oregon’s wine country, producing exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from six distinct vineyard estates. Broadening their horizons, the Evenstads acquired Château de la Crée in Burgundy in 2015, marking a full circle return to the region that inspired their winemaking journey.

Evenstad Reserve Dundee Hills Brut NV
This beautifully expressive release surprises immediately with a fresh mint character on the nose. The fine bubbles open with a welcome burst of graham cracker and pie crust. A touch of almond leads to elegant acidity- which shows more like Meyer lemon on the palate- and a soft, almost velvety mouthfeel to finish.

Evenstad Reserve Chardonnay 2020
The ‘Evenstad Reserve’ Chardonnay represents the art of blending select barrels from our estate vineyard sites in the Dundee Hills. This combination of Dijon clone vines, Jory soil, and the high elevation estates in the Dundee Hills produces fruit of unparalleled quality for this reserve wine.

Chevalier de la Crée Montagny 1er Cru Knights Templar Cuvee Chardonnay 2020
The ‘Knights Templar Cuvée’ Chardonnay merges finesse and minerality to offer a tensioned acidity balanced with a creamy mouthfeel. This exemplary wine delivers richness and elegance, with a punctuated mineral essence that lingers exquisitely into the finish.

Chevalier de la Crée ‘Knights Templar Cuvée’ Pinot Noir 2018
Beautifully balanced upon approach, displaying dark cherry and raspberry aromas, with hints of citrus peel and tobacco. The palate is awash with balanced red fruit flavors, finishing with lively floral tones of dried flowers and pomegranate. Texturally, this young Burgundian Pinot Noir is bright, with soft tannins and balanced acidity that will age with grace for the next decade.

Domaine Serene Grand Cheval Red Blend 2018
To make Grand Cheval we take the best characteristics of two very different varietals, Syrah from the Walla Walla Valley, and our own Pinot Noir grapes from the Dundee Hills, and blend them in perfect harmony to create our own version of the ideal “steakhouse wine.” This wine is substantial enough for the richest of dishes, yet soft enough to please any palate.
