Justin Neufeld 2

We are excited to welcome Justin Neufeld, owner and winemaker at JB Neufeld to the shop! On Wednesday, August 23 at 6 p.m., Justin will lead us through five of his incredible wines that will take you straight to the heart of the Yakima Valley, Washington.

Justin first became interested in winemaking while studying Microbiology at the University of Washington. He and his wife Brooke started JB Neufeld in 2008 as a side project while Justin was working at other wineries, including as the head winemaker at Gilbert Cellars. Today, JB Neufeld is a full-time operation that stands out with its focus on Cabernet Sauvignon grown within the Yakima Valley AVA. This dedicated approach showcases the diversity of the region’s terroir and has allowed JB Neufeld to craft Cabernet Sauvignon that is layered, balanced, and deeply reflective of its origins.

TASTING LINEUP:

2022 Yakima Valley Sauvignon Blanc
A fruity white with aromas of lime zest, lemon curd, guavas, and green apples. Medium-bodied, sharp, and refreshing with a zesty finish.

2020 Yakima Valley ‘Red Wine’
This Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from WA state delivers a mouthful of plush, expansive fruit flavors of raspberry & black currants with plenty of acidity to balance out the rich palate. Baking spices linger on the long finish

2021 Yakima Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The wine is a blend of 3 different vineyards made with the intention of showcasing the best of the Yakima Valley. The fruit is sourced from our favorite vineyards from up and down the valley from both cold and hot sites: Elephant Mountain, Two Blondes, and Red Willow.

2019 Yakima Valley ‘Old Goat’ Cabernet Sauvignon
Firm tannins and plenty of acid. Nice mix of black cherry, anise, clove, cocoa, black plum, and mint.

2020 Ciel du Cheval, Horse Heaven Hills, Cabernet Sauvignon
This has aromas of spiced cherries, blackcurrants, plums, cedar, and chocolate orange. Spicy, full body, ripe tannins, and a creamy finish.
