Meo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanee (2021) – A glowing mid purple. The bouquet typifies the pure and hedonistic fruit of the village, getting us off to a good start. I was initially expecting more in the mouth here, though in fact there is still plenty, and more will emerge later after racking. Discreet for now, but on the right path. Drink from 2025-2030.
Méo’s village-level Vosne is among the best wines at this level. It features a dark mulberry fruit with accents of earth and sweet spice. There density and tannin to spare, giving this a substantial texture that drinks more like a premier cru than a village-level wine. The grapes come mostly from Les Barreaux up-slope from Richebourg and Cros Parantoux. The rest is Aux Communes. The grapes are destemmed and gently fermented on native yeasts before ageing in cask (half new). There is more than enough extract here to support the generous oak treatment for this village wine
