Jean-Marc Pillot Bourgogne Blanc ‘Le Haut des Champs’ (2022) – One of our favorite producers in Chassagne, Jean-Marc Pillot’s Bourgogne Blanc is always a focused, mineral-driven beauty and one of the best buys in its class. It comes from a mix of domaine fruit sourced from a select parcel on the southeastern side of Chassagne-Montrachet and the Côte Chalonnaise, with purchased grapes from the Hautes Côtes de Nuits and fruit from below Puligny which has been the standard blend here since 2019. In recent years, it has only been made using a stainless steel tank, which has helped this cuvee amplify the freshness here. It is made in a pure and focused style with a nice helping of fruit and an excellent sense of place. It is one of the best examples in the category, is fantastic in 2022, and is always among the top values for white burgundy.
