This Chenin Blanc is from a single vineyard that’s located about 300 yards as the crow flies from the Sacramento River. The soils are a blend of silty clay loam and decomposed granite soils. Farmed organically, and dry farmed in 2017/2018 (deficit irrigated in drought years like 2015). The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks, and then aged on its lees in barrel for one year. Lees aging (and autolysis) adds texture and viscosity to the wine, takes a bit of time to integrate into this wine with the high acidity, but it’s drinking at its perfect moment now.
