Alessandro & Gian Natale Fantino ‘Laboro Disobedient’ (2016)

Alessandro & Gian Natale Fantino ‘Laboro Disobedient’ (2016) – Laboro Disubbidiente is a Barolo in all but name. Produced from vines with an average age of 60 years from the Bussia vineyard of Dardi. Laboro is a play on the word Barolo and a nod to the labor that it takes to farm these vineyards and produce Riserva Barolo. Disubbidiente is disobedient. The brothers Fantino in 2005 made a Barolo Riserva that unfortunately the government would not permit them to sell as Barolo Riserva due to the fact that they missed a submission deadline for approval. The result was to sell as just Barolo or come up with a new cuvee to indicate to the consumer that this wine was different. Thus, the Vino Rosso Laboro Disubbidiente was born.
