We are thrilled to invite you to an exclusive Champagne tasting event on Wednesday, June 12 at 6 p.m. Jeff Moore, Advanced Sommelier and owner of Amphora Wine Company, will guide us through five exceptional grower Champagnes.
Grower Champagnes are wines crafted with grapes grown and harvested by the producers themselves. This is in contrast to many Champagnes that are produced by negociants, who purchase fruit for their wines. The tasting will introduce you to five different wines from three distinguished grower producers: Bernard Remy, Tarlant, and Paul Bara.
Grower Champagne Lineup:
Bernard Remy ‘Carte Blanche’ Brut Champagne NV
This wine has clean, fresh and soft notes of grapefruit and lemon curd, with a slight salinity and a subtle undertone of rosehip. It’s ideal as an aperitif and pairs well with light starters.
Tarlant Brut Nature Zero
This champagne, representing 70% of Tarlant’s production, is a non-vintage, no dosage wine made of equal parts Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay. The goal of “Zero” is to express a Champagne without sugar masking the land’s characteristics.
Tarlant ‘Cuvee Louis’
This champagne is a tribute to Benoît’s great, great grandfather and is made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from a single parcel of 65-year-old vines called Les Crayons, vinified and aged in oak.
2016 Paul Bara Grand Millesime Grand Cru Brut
Only made in exceptional harvest years, this champagne has an enticing, complex bouquet with a fresh edge and layers of citrus fruits, honey and dried flowers combined with fleshy fruits and a subtle touch of spices.
2016 Paul Bara Special Club Brut Rosé
This unique champagne, only made in exceptional years, is a beautiful salmon-pink colored champagne with fine, elegant bubbles and alluring aromas dominated by notes of red forest fruits.
