Virginia Zendel of JW Thornton will be our guest presenter, sharing stories, knowledge, and insights about these enchanting creations. And at a price of just $40 per person, this is a tasting opportunity you won’t want to miss.

Raúl Pérez, a prominent figure in the “New Spain” movement, is globally acclaimed for his visionary approach to winemaking. He’s often hailed as “the best winemaker in the world,” renowned for creating stunning wines that beautifully reflect their place of origin. At this event, you’ll have the rare opportunity to taste and learn about a selection of these exquisite wines, each one an embodiment of Raúl’s brilliance, humility, and generous spirit.

TASTING LINEUP:

Arrotos del Pendon 2018
A rosé de saignée of 100% Prieto Picudo, this wine is a pure and joyous expression of fresh fruit. Ripe cherry and other wild berries on the nose lead to a refreshing cascade of watermelon on the palate.

Ultreia ‘La Claudina’ 2020
Ultreia La Claudina is a unique white wine made with skin and stalk contact, fermented in an open foudre without temperature control. It develops a natural yeast cap during maturation, resulting in an elegant and complex wine with many nuances. This rare, limited production wine is unfiltered and unclarified, making it a must-try for wine enthusiasts.

La Poulosa 2020
Shows a great variety of fruity notes in the nose, with special incidence of red fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, and cherries. In the mouth it gives a great balance between tannins and acidity. It is deep, pleasant, and intense.

Las Gundinas 2019
Dark violet. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruits, candied flowers, licorice, and baking spices. Gently sweet and chewy on the palate, offering intense black currant, cherry and spice cake flavors braced by an undercurrent of juicy acidity. Shows a firming grip and smoky mineral lift on a persistent finish that features building tannins and a touch of gaminess.

Ultreia ‘La Cova’ 2020
From an ultra-tiny, one-quarter, acre vineyard planted to Bierzo’s usual blend of mainly Mencia with assorted red and white complementary grapes. A richer, creamier, expression than most of Perez’s other Bierzos. Very limited.
