We are thrilled to announce our next tasting event featuring the wines of the renowned sommelier Raj Parr. Join us on Wednesday, July 24 at 6 p.m. when their Sales Manager Gerich Fellermann leads us through five different wines from both the Willamette Valley and Santa Barbara County.
Raj Parr is a James Beard award-winning author, wine professional, and globally celebrated sommelier. He discovered his passion for wine while working as a chef and soon joined the team at Rubicon where he expanded his wine knowledge. Raj spent time travelling Europe and California and developed a few partnerships with close winemaker friends at their respective cellars. He slowly but surely transitioned from sommelier to producer. Today, Raj is a founding partner, proprietor, and winemaker for Evening Land Vineyards, Sandhi, and Domaine de la Côte.
At this event, we will compare the wines from Raj’s different wineries in Oregon and California. With two Chardonnays and three Pinot Noirs, we can explore the distinctions in the terroir of Willamette Valley and Santa Barbara.
TASTING LINEUP:
Evening Land ‘La Source’ Chardonnay 2019
94 Points Wine Spectator: “A wine of depth and presence, this Chardonnay offers an array of intriguing flavors, from apple and stony mineral to lemon verbena and blanched almond. Takes on richness toward the steely finish. Drink now”
Sandhi Santa Rita Hills Chardonnay 2021
94 Points James Suckling: “Lovely texture and density, showing dried apple, fresh ginger and pastry dough. Layered, with phenolic tension.”
Evening Land Seven Springs Pinot Noir 2022
93 Points Wine Spectator: “Steely and precise, with vibrant raspberry and pomegranate flavors that reveal accents of stony mineral, dusky spices and black tea as this gathers verve and tension toward refined tannins. Drink now through 2032.”
Sandhi Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir 2021
95 Points Wine Enthusiast: “The earthy tones of black tea and sage brush on the nose of this bottling are balanced by the sumac, hibiscus, cinnamon and sour-cherry aromas. The palate is wrapped in tea-like tannins, offering pomegranate, pepper spice and loamy soil flavors, with a light bitterness on the finish. Drink now–2041.”
Domaine de la Côte ‘Bloom’s Field’ Pinot Noir 2021
97 Points Wine Enthusiast: “This estate bottling shows the most vivid and accessible fruit qualities compared to the rest of the 2021 lineup. Dark berry aromas meet with rose, carnation, achiote and turned earth on the nose. The tightly structured palate’s dark-fruit core is decorated in eucalyptus leaf, Kalamata olive and strong, dank herb flavors.”
