Pinot Noirs

Get ready to embark on an exploration into the nuanced world of Pinot Noir! On Tuesday, August 8, at 6 p.m. our General Manager and Sommelier Travis Doyle will lead us through a delightful tasting highlighting different Pinot Noirs from the United States & France.

Pinot Noir, celebrated for producing some of the most exquisite wines, holds a unique place in the world of viticulture. Its cultivation demands meticulous attention, yet the rewards are bountiful. The wines produced are lightly colored, medium-bodied, with low tannins and offer a remarkable aging potential. This intricate balance has led to Pinot Noir securing its position among the top ten most planted grape varieties globally.

The complexity of Pinot Noir unfolds beautifully across different climates and soils. From the cool climates of Burgundy in France to the varied landscapes of California and Oregon, the identity of Pinot Noir shifts subtly, adding layers to its captivating story.

PINOT NOIR LINEUP:

2021 Martin Woods Jessie James Vineyard Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley, Oregon) Opulent floral aromatics meet sweet berry fruits, mushrooms, and Christmas spice from this single vineyard Pinot Noir, dry-farmed in one of the higher elevation sites.

2021 Arterberry Maresh Dundee Hills Pinot Noir (Dundee, Oregon)
The Old Vines boast arresting aromas of orange bitters, mossy bark, and tobacco leaves, complementing a core of pomegranate, rhubarb, and cranberry. This light-bodied palate offers remarkably pure, detailed flavors with velvety tannins and a very long finish.

2021 Domaine de la Cote ‘Memorious’ Pinot Noir (Santa Rita Hills, California)
Crushed stone, raspberry, and strawberry character define this medium-bodied wine with density and a toned structure. Racy and bright, with white pepper notes shining through.

2019 Drew Valenti Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir (Mendocino Ridge, California)
This mostly east-facing vineyard is farmed organically and yields a tempting, trim wine alive with red-cherry, rhubarb, and raspberry flavors that boast vibrancy and great balance.

2020 Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint George ‘Vielles Vignes’ (Burgundy, France)
Dark berry fruit coulis is laced with notes of earth and spice. The delicious middle-weight flavors possess excellent punch before culminating in a sleek, intense, and only mildly rustic finale.
