Hot on the heels of his highly-rated 2019 releases, young gun (he’s in his early 20s!) non-interventionist winemaker Sam Lambson is making waves again with small batch releases of the 2020 vintage. Syrah is the star of the show, and his explosive expressions of this cold-loving grape are getting a lot of attention. From Lambson himself: “Exploring the diversity of Syrah planted in cool microclimates of the Cape is my passion, and this blended Syrah represents another step in my never ending search to find the best sites in the Winelands.” In 2020, the fruit for Connect The Dots was sourced from Stellenbosch and Elgin (as was the inaugural release). But this vintage also included fruit from granite soils of Polkadraai and Helderberg, a new Table Mountain Sandstone parcel, and parcels from the iron-rich clay soil of Darling. All parcels were fermented separately, some whole cluster, and aged in neutral 300L French Oak for 14 months before blending.
