A Tribute to Grace Rose of Granache (2021)


Winemaker Notes: Our tenth vintage of the wine that defines the joy of Spring! In 2021 we increased our selection from our beloved ‘Mesa’ block (our single-vineyard source) to the older blocks that have defined this wine since day dot. With this comes a more ethereal dimension to the aromatics, and my tasting notes indeed include Palo Santo. The Mesa clusters were foot-tread by our wh?nau (school started the next day) and left on skins for just 24 hours to impart their gorgeous tonality and texture, before being pressed with their clone Noir/2 sisters. A long, slow, cool fermentation ensued over 51 days, in a tank named Aroha. Following primary, the finished wine aged sur lie for 13 weeks. We bottled under a Sagittarius moon, complete with the first ever Hummingbird-Stelvin to celebrate the big ten.
